The GPE Futures Festival is a vibrant annual youth-led event that brings together young leaders and policymakers to discuss the critical role of education in shaping the future.

This year's Futures Festival "Empower and Engage: Education for Skills in a Diverse World" coincides with the African Union's Year of Education and leads into significant events like the Olympics and the Summit of the Future, making the 2024 festival particularly momentous. Aligned with World Youth Skills Day on July 15th, the festival addresses the competitive job market's need for innovative and sustainable skills, while also tackling the unique challenges faced by youth across gender, disability, and refugee backgrounds.

As the global workforce transforms, the festival emphasizes the urgency of equipping youth with 21st-century skills, a need underscored by the 222 million children and young people currently missing out on quality education. Building on the success of the previous year's 10-point education plan, the 2024 festival will explore how these strategies, especially those related to climate change, can enhance young people's skills for a sustainable future.
